Addition of another storey Höschgasse Zürich, 2000
- 1/10
- Text
The office building at Höschgasse 45, built in the 1950s by the architect Gustav von Tobel, was conceptualised as a two-flush, five-storey edifice. The facade closes on the street and courtyard side with a canopy characteristic of the period. The saddle roof does not appear from the immediate street and courtyard area, but is only visible from the free gable facade at the courtyard entrance. The storey addition on the entire floor area of the office building, which replaces the original saddle roof, is in principle a bungalow on an elevated plot. Taking advantage of the possibilities offered by the building code, the floor plan is structured by a succession of loggias, which are rhythmized by layers of space extending to the facade. From the two-story dining area, the gallery leads to the stairway to the pinnacle with a view of the city and the lake.
